Information on a Land Rover Series 2a winch?

i recently purchased a 1964 landie in wales. It has an original fitted land rover manufactuered hydraulic winch. The previous owner said that there was only 150 ever made and only about three left in working order. I've tried in vain to find information on the net and in the library to get some history on the winch. does anyone know anything about it or know who I could contact? Thanks in advance.|||Bloody Good Purchase, well done visit and join this forum. for great help and advice, series2a owner meself. bloody great arent they :)

There is a dedicated Landrover section and what these guys don't know about Landy's isn't really worth knowing!

They have forums where you can ask any question and they have helped me out lots of times!|||i have had dealings with land rover winches.you get several different kinds .there is a capstan winch which driven from the crankshaft. you also got a horizontal reel type .both of these were made by fairey.to my recollection they are covered in the haynes manual.best of luck.
