Land Rover Freelander 2004. Are they more expensive to maintain and repair?

I'm thinking of purchasing a Land Rover 2004 Freelander. My husband says they're more expensive to maintain and repair than other "american made" small suvs. Does anyone have experience with this type of vehicle that can offer some insight? Thanks!!|||Hell yes they are more expensive, and a huge pain in the ***.

For example, I have one customer in my shop that owns one. She knows to call ahead 3 days in advance for an oil change so we can special order the $20 oil filter for it that has to come from out-of-state. Who needs that kind of complication and added expense for the most routine maintenance. Good thing the vehicle is new enough she has not needed any other work. Outside of the very sparse dealer network there is no parts availability for these vehicles.

A Ford Escape offers more room and practicality at a fraction of the price. Even the smallish Honda CRV would be a better choice. Land Rover's, like most Euro makes I am convinced are for people who have a need to feel superior. Practical transportation devices they are not.|||The most expensive thing about the Land Rover and any other SUV is the gasoline to keep them running and the carbon footprint you add to your already huge footprint by operating such a vehicle. Global warming is real and you need to think about the kind of world you are going to leave behind for your children and grandchildren.|||Land Rover is one of the worst - if not THE worst - quality-wise vehicles on the road. They are also are among the most expensive to repair (which is needed on a daily basis) and to maintain due it's image of a "luxury European brand".|||Sorry your hubby is very correct! Not only do the mechanics charge more for labor, but on top of it; they have to import the parts, and pass on the shipping charges to guess who? Buy USA your children will live in poverty, because you've sent all the money they need to live on, on a one way ticket out of our country. (though people are stupid, and wont realize it until it's too late. I live in San Francisco, and the Asians are buying up all the houses, so our kids have no place to live.|||Hi, There has been mixed opinions about the quality and maintanence of Land Rover. There are some good and bad reviews on it. It is said that the interior of this vehicle looks good, but the reliability and service is bad.
