What is involved in changing a Land Rover Discovery engine?

There's a Disco for sale at the local crappy beater dealer for only $799. The body looks good so it must have a blown engine or something. How much work and money is involved in swapping in some generic American V8?|||A lot of work and knowledge. You have to take the Disco all the way down to the frame. The new engine will have to be aligned perfectly with the transmission, so you will have to design and fabricate the new motor's motor mounts. Your engine will have to mate perfectly with the transmission, so you will have to make some kind of adapter plate. This is a big deal. I think that if you want to do an engine swab project, you should check with a hot rod shop that has already done this conversion. You should pick a project you like, because you will have a lot more money invested than you would ever get at resale. No one will like or trust your work as much as you do.
