I want to buy a land rover LR2 but am worried about reliability issues?

I don't want headaches with a vehicle! And I heard some bad things about land rovers, but it's getting EXCEPTIONAL reviews on yahoo autos and edmunds.com. I'm just wondering, has anything changed w/ land rover in recent years that would increase the quality and reliability of the LR2 or are these reviews based solely on chance/luck?
